If something is wrong now
Do not wait for a routine appointment. Breathing that keeps worsening, a nose swelling fast, bleeding that will not stop or that restarts after settling, skin over the tip or bridge turning white, dusky, blistered or black, or a fever with spreading redness around the nose needs emergency or same-day care rather than a cosmetic assessment. Contact your treating team first; if the team cannot be reached, call the hospital main line, and for a red-flag finding go to the nearest emergency department.
Arranging an assessment
Where the nose is comfortable and the concern is breathing that has persisted or a shape that has not settled, appointments are made through the hospital outpatient line or through the appointment service described on the appointments page. Say that you are asking about a nose after previous surgery, and say whether the operation was performed here or elsewhere, because that changes what records are needed.
What to bring
Bring the operating note from the previous operation if you can obtain it, along with the date, the name of the surgeon and any aftercare instructions you were given. Bring a list of your current medicines and allergies, and mention anything that affects healing or the lining of the nose, including allergic rhinitis and any medication that thins the blood. Photographs of your nose before the first operation are more useful than patients expect.
What the assessment covers
Each side of the airway before and after decongestion, the septum and the inside of the nose, what the previous operation used and what remains, the thickness and mobility of the skin over the tip and bridge, and the shape measured rather than described. Standardised photographs are taken so that change can be judged at the next visit. You should leave knowing whether anything needs to be done now, what the nose is likely to do next, and when the question of a revision should be asked again.
Fees, records and privacy
This site does not quote prices, because the plan depends on the assessment and is discussed directly at consultation. Clinical photographs are taken for planning and follow-up and are not published or used for teaching without a separate consent that you are free to refuse. Records from an operation performed elsewhere are used for your assessment only.
